Modest Mouse is showcasing their teenage angst in the reissues of albums written in 94 and 97, but with better production quality ;) Even in his youth Isaac Brock’s voice still carries the raspy, forget-me-not hooks that make you realize that rock and roll has many faces.
Being one of the pioneers of indie-rock, it is a shame that MM doesn’t seem to get as much credit as they deserve, atleast in my opinion. Acts such as Pixies and Modest Mouse, without these bands, there would be no MGMT, no Mars Volta, and most likely no Vampire Weekend.

Both releases are beautiful and very much worth a listen.
Ionno if you’re a strokes fan but I’m sure you can appreciate what Julian Casablancas has to offer to the world of pop music. With the release of Phrases for the Youth the 32 year old rock poster child has proven to the world that he can transcend genres fluently and give an electronic side that we have yet to see. Resembling chord changes in his previous act, you still get your Stokes fix.
Regardless of all this bullshit, you should give it a listen.
If you want a good warm pop song that will melt your ass off with harmonies and a great vocal hook, this might be the one for you.

Basement Birds might just be the band for you…
Based in Australia, Basement Birds takes the alt-country (Band of Horses, late Conor Oberst) sound and spins it off with catchy bass grooves and power pop chorus melodies that will have you second guessing your I listen to everything except country exception. While this itself is a bit overwhelming, we have to consider tunes such as Born to be Alive (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deWxnoQWW6w&feature=related)
delivering a jive filled jam chart, disko but with those awesome folk harmonies that remind us of our grandparents gospel music.
All in all, if you dig campfire guitar chords and warm lullaby hooks you might want to give them a listen.
